"You're more normal than you think—and more capable than you realize. Let's get you unstuck."
— Gus Garcia
Gus Garcia is the co-founder of Connections Counseling and Coaching, a values-driven practice rooted in the belief that healing is a byproduct of connection—connection to self, others, and God. With a bachelor's degree in Human and Family Services from BYU-Idaho and specialized certifications in Family Relations, Family Services, Child Development, and Family Theory and Research, Gus combines academic insight with real-world wisdom.
Gus brings a unique background to his coaching work—including years of experience as an undercover detective and a former U.S. Army combat medic. His time in high-pressure environments taught him how to stay calm under stress, read people deeply, and address crisis with clarity and compassion—skills he now uses to support individuals, couples, teens, and families navigating their own life battles.
He specializes in emotional regulation, anger management, blended family dynamics, and men's mental health. Gus is also the creator and facilitator of The Stronger Man, a 6-week men's mental health support group that builds brotherhood, emotional strength, and personal growth through honest conversations and peer support. He's a great fit for guys who normally wouldn't go to therapy—Gus gets that we all need help sometimes, and his laid-back, real-life approach makes it easier for men to feel comfortable opening up and getting support.
Bilingual in English and Spanish, Gus provides in-person coaching in St. George, Utah, and virtual sessions across the U.S. As a father of five and a man of faith, Gus helps clients discover who they are beneath the roles, pain, or pressure.
